The Chairman of YGAPC Press Release to "Middle East" Newspaper

The Executive Chairman of YGAPC, Chairman of Board of Directors, Mr. Mohamed Alawi Omzarbah, has explained to "Middle East" Newspaper, the activities witnessed by Ma'alla Wharves in the first quarter of this year 2016, as the number of ships that berthed were about 42 ships, including 16 cement ships

, 5 iron , 4 relief and 4 ships loaded with cars. The total of more than 370 tons were handled.

He added that preparations are underway to re-activate Ma'alla Container Terminal to keep up the growing activity of containers in the Port of Aden, adding that the Ma'ala berths were among the sectors that suffered a lot of damage during the recent war in Yemen.

He pointed out that the Port received this amount of cement and steel due to the rising domestic demand for the reconstruction process in the liberated governorates, including the city of Aden. He added that the last ship that arrived the Port of was the Turkish relief ship "Izmir", which discharged its cargo during the past few days, noting that there is another relief ship in the waiting area and is likely to be entered into the harbor on Tuesday evening.

He assured the keenness of the Corporation to carry out their plans to modernize ,develop and raise the productivity of the Port activities to push the process of economic and commercial business in Aden and the rest of the governorates of Yemen.

Aden Ports Development Company has granted facilities and privileges to shipping lines wishing to use Ma'alla Terminal, including priority berthing to the shipping line vessels, which initiates its first visit to the terminal.

This move comes in after great efforts to activate all the services and activities at the Port where Aden Container Terminal has witnessed an additional yard storage capacity of 2000 TEU.
